tropical storm in the ocean

Fiona

Fiona, a tropical storm aimed right at Vieques and many other islands in the Caribbean, is approaching. Will it become a hurricane?

emergency planA friend, Francesca, called this morning to make sure I was aware it was coming and to go over survival preparations with me.

Have everything charged. Get the furniture off my porch. Have lots of candles, a flashlight, and batteries.

Fill every container with water from the tap. It may be needed to flush the toilet, wash dishes.

Nancy came by to take down my wind chime so I wouldn’t have to climb to reach the high ceiling myself. She carried in my chair and table too.

I’m stocking up on food that doesn’t need to be kept cold, toilet paper, and cash in case there is not enough electricity later to take cards.

emergency preparedness items

I have spread my consciousness out over the island of Vieques. I find human-confident determination, human hopelessness, and human indifference. I don’t find much Light, Faith, or Trust in God.

I feel I haven’t done enough. I know I haven’t done enough—all these months to prepare and still not even a book study group. The elementals and my legion of angels, however, are at work, saying violet flame decrees, protecting the people of the island. We’ve been trying to get all the sylphs and undines who pass to decree and to understand there are to be no hurricanes here. But they pass; they don’t stick around. I ask them to teach all their friends, but the air and water are moving quickly. Is it enough?

Flood warnings have been issued. I’m surrounded by concrete; the ocean is about twenty feet below at the end of the street. I feel safe from floods. The building is concrete, and the windows are hurricane-proof; both have been tested. My body should be safe, no matter the wind.

In the immaculate heart of Mary, I trust.

Dear Sister, Lynn. My love and prayers are coming your way ongoing. You are brave to summon your resources and brave the elements. I am glad you have friends there who help you and support you. You are blessed. Please let us know how you are. We care about you. (And your little dog, too!) Love, Sharon
