How I Found the Teachings – Part II

LynnI could go to church; I had permission, but this was a tough bunch of people to impress. I went out and bought a new dress. I’d never been to Renton, so I picked up a map at the Auto Club and asked how long it would take to get there. I was told 45 minutes, so I planned an hour and a quarter so I’d be sure to be on time. Then, I set about finding on the big map the tiny, little excerpt on the flyer. On Sunday, May 31st, I went to church.

I followed the map and drove right up to the address; there was no church there. Traffic meant I couldn’t stop; I drove on and wiggled my way through a few intersecting streets until I could drive past the address again. The building at the address held the Renton Electrical Company. On the second story, there was a banner hung on the railing that said “Seattle Community Teaching Center.” What would they be teaching? Something electrical, probably.  Soldering wires together? Climbing light poles? Reading circuits? But it said “Seattle Community.” What was it doing in Renton? There was a wooden building next door that looked as if it might make a good church, but it seemed to be closed.

I found a parking place three blocks away and walked back to the address. I even went up to the door of the church-like building; it was locked. As I stood in front of the electrical building, two people walked out onto the balcony of the second floor, and I called to them. “Excuse me, I’m looking for a church. I have a flyer that says there is a church at this address. Do you know anything about a church around here?”

“This is a church. Come on up.”

At the top of the stairs, one of the women introduced herself; the other had gone inside. “The service is just starting. Come in and take a seat.” I did.

altarI found myself in a beautiful chapel. There was a big Chart of the Presence over an altar. (I had a Chart taped to my bedroom wall.) There were big pictures of Jesus and Saint Germain and smaller ones of two other people. An aura of sanctity, worship, and joy settled over me, and I knew I was home. The service began, and Jesus sat in the seat next to me and filled my heart. Then someone clouted the back of my head with an elbow and crashed into my chair.

It was a child, come to ask a question, loudly, of the parent in the row behind me. As the service progressed, I discovered that I had managed to sit in front of a pair of prodigious procreators. Whenever I managed to refocus on the service, there was another intruder. They were all over the church. How many, O Lord? A dozen, perhaps twenty?—or maybe they each came multiple times? Here comes another one: quick, lean forward; brace for the crash.

Finally, it was time for the dictation, and mercifully, the chapel doors were closed and the invasion of the barbarians ceased. The Maha Chohan had come to speak to us on Pentecost. I listened with my whole heart, but what about Jesus? Was this OK? Could I love the Maha Chohan as I’d been loving Jesus all my life? We had a three-way conversation about this. It was a wonderful dictation, although I’m not sure I heard a word of it.

I filed out of the chapel with the others and found myself surrounded three and four deep by people asking me questions about the dictation. What did I think of the Maha Chohan? Did I agree with the politics? What part did I like best? I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t answer any of their questions. I didn’t want to talk about my conversation, but reluctantly admitted to talking with Jesus and the Maha Chohan during the dictation. Finally, someone with sense suggested that they should let me experience the dictation in my own way, and people backed off. But the interrogation continued: Where did I live? How had I found the teachings? Had I read any books?

Edwin and Lorie Besaw were standing apart, not pelting me with questions, and I was introduced to them last. Lorie took my hand, looked me in the eyes, and asked, “What kept you?” The question seemed to be out of the blue; she’d heard nothing but my name and where I lived, but I knew what she meant.

book shelves“I’ve been trying to get here since mid-February,” I replied. “That’s when I found the book at Barnes & Noble.”

Lorie said, “Edwin and I went there the day after they opened. I posted Edwin as a lookout while I moved all the books by Elizabeth Clare Prophet out of the Occult section to the Religion section. I felt they needed to be there.”

Thank you for sharing Lynn. Great that you posted a photo of yourself, it is really lovely. I could feel the jolt when an elbow knocked into you. It brought back memories of being in a a service in KA Court. I would be deeply immersed in decreeing and people would come in late for the dictation, and knock into me. It was a real jolt and you had to refocus and reconnect into your heart again.
